product with a long history. It has been recorded in the
traditional Chinese pharmacopeia, Ben Cao Gang Mu during the Ming
Dynasty (1368-1644), by Li Shizhen that Red Yeast Rice could be
used as a medicinal agent, and a promoter of blood circulation and
a digestive stimulant.
